Blake Hill Heirloom Apple Jam
1 package frozen pastry sheets
Cabot Sharp Cheddar Cheese - shredded
1 egg
Instructions
1
Preheat oven to 375F. Line a baking sheet with baking parchment paper.
2
Thaw dough according to package, unroll it and cut into an even number of shapes with your preferred cookie cutter. Transfer half of them to the baking sheet.
3
Spoon 1-2 tablespoons of the jam onto the center of the shapes depending on the size of your shape.
4
With a brush (or your finger) moisten the edges of the shape with cold water, then top with another shape and use the back of a fork to crimp and seal the edges. Repeat until all the shapes have been used.
5
Whisk an egg into a small bowl then brush tops with egg wash. Use a sharp knife to cut a small slit in the top of the shapes.
6
Bake the pies for 15 minutes, then remove the tray from the oven and sprinkle tops with cheese. Bake until golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 5 minutes.
7
Bakers Tip: Serve the burnt cheddar bits along with the hand pies, they are delicious!
