Blueberry Basil Trifle
This simple layered dessert is elevated with our tart basil and blueberry based Botanical Shrub. Hand make all the elements or keep it super simple with your favorite mixes. The savory basil undertones of this dish will wow your guests and have them begging for the secret ingredient and it's just too good not to share!
Serving Size: 1 large bowl
King Arthur Baking Co. Golden Cake Mix (or Gluten-Free option)
eggs, milk, butter as directed on chosen mix
1 packet instant lemon pudding - milk as directed
2 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tablespoons confectioners sugar
2 cups fresh blueberries
Fresh basil to garnish

Bake cake mix as directed and set aside to cool
Hand whisk lemon pudding and milk as directed
Beat heavy whipping cream and confectioners sugar until stiff peaks form. You can also substitute Cool Whip for a super fast alternative.
Once cake is cooled it is time to layer!
Cut cake into 1 inch cubes - place ⅓ of the cake in bottom of large glass serving bowl
Sprinkle ½ cup of fresh blueberries on top of cake
Slowly pour Basil Blueberry Botanical Shrub over cake and berries to lightly coat. Some of the Shrub will pool at the bottom and slowly absorb into the cake as you layer.
Spoon in a layer of lemon pudding
Spread a layer of whipped topping over pudding
Repeat layers until you reach the top of your bowl and the final layer of whipped topping
For a special touch and even more Basil Blueberry taste - add a small amount of shrub into the remainder of whipped cream, stir in and spread on top
Garnish with blueberries and basil - refrigerate until ready to serve
Serve within 12 hours - chilled. Enjoy!
